Banner Ironwood Medical Center in Queen Creek has started work on an expansion of its emergency department.
Banner Ironwood, 37000 N. Gantzel Road, is adding more than 32,000 square feet to the facility.
The construction will add a new two-story building to its existing emergency department. The new space will house an interventional radiology suite with pre- and post-op space, as well as providing additional room for future growth, according to a Banner Health press release. The project will also expand the emergency department’s lobby.
“As a fully integrated nonprofit healthcare system, every dollar Banner generates is reinvested back into our communities — not shareholders,” Darren McCollem, chief executive officer of Banner Ironwood, stated in the release. “This project is a reflection of our commitment to giving back to the Queen Creek community, and we’re proud to grow alongside it since we first opened our doors here over a decade ago.”
Project work is being led by Archsol for architecture and Mortenson for construction. The new space is expected to be completed by December 2027.
Banner Ironwood held a groun-breaking ceremony for its expansion in late August, with Mayor Julia Wheatley in attendance.
