Choir program flourishes at Queen Creek's Crismon High

Posted

As part of the Queen Creek Unified School District’s fine arts offerings, Crismon High School boasts a robust choir program.

Crismon High student Avery B. joined the choir out of a love for singing and theater.

"I just think it's a great opportunity that we have here," Avery stated in a district press release. “This year, we get to do the song ‘Kaleidoscope Heart’ with body percussion. It’s fun to perform different types of things, not just singing."

Brooklyn R., another choir student, has been singing for nearly six years and values the strong sense of community within the program.

"I love singing, and it's such a great environment. Everybody’s so friendly, and it's amazing to see how music comes together," Brooklyn stated in the release.

She also appreciates the different age groups, which creates mentorships and friendships across grade levels.

"You have seniors and juniors to look up to, and that’s really fun," she stated.

Bria R., who also participates in theater, joined the choir to explore various musical styles. She enjoys the structure of the program and learning three different songs each quarter under the guidance of choir director and teacher Scott Lloyd.

"Choir isn’t always people’s first choice, but I’d encourage students to give it a try. A bigger group means more opportunities for classes and performances," Bria stated.
