A Queen Creek employee has received the 2025 Economic Development 40 Under 40 Award, the biennial award recognizing rising stars under 40 years old in the economic development industry.
Marissa Garnett, economic development project manager, was among the 40 recipients chosen out of a pool of 160 nominations to win the award.
“Marissa is known for her attention to detail and ability to provide businesses with key data when evaluating the town as a location,” stated Town Manager Bruce Gardner in a town press release. “These achievements, combined with her innovative approach to economic development, have allowed her to excel in her role.”
Garnett began her career with the town in 2014 as a research assistant and advanced to her current role.
Highlights of Garnett’s work for the town include being instrumental in the Queen Creek landing its first onsite brewery, assisting with the development of the small business grant assistance program during COVID, contributing to the stand-alone websites for both Invest The QC and Visit The QC and being actively involved with the LG Energy Solution project, a major economic development milestone for the town.
The 2025 Economic Development 40 Under 40 awards program was hosted by Development Counsellors International and Jorgenson Pace, an executive search firm specializing in economic development, community development and nonprofit sectors.
