Annual Queen Creek Christmas light parade set for Saturday

Posted

Another holiday event is hitting the streets of Queen Creek this weekend.

The annual Queen Creek SXS Christmas Cruise runs from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14.

Vehicles decked out in their lighted holiday finery will be cruising through the streets of the town. Sossaman Road from Pecos Road and Rittenhouse Road will be closed from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. for the event, according to the Queen Creek Police Department.

Residents Jen and Nick Masse started the event six years ago and over that time a growing number of vehicles have joined the parade.

Any street-legal vehicle is welcome to take part in the parade, which is also open to all off-road vehicles. There is no need to RSVP — just show up with a decked-out rig.

Those taking part in the parade are asked to meet at 2 p.m. at American Leadership Academy Applied Technologies campus, 7729 E. Pecos Road in Mesa.

Organizers will be collecting items for U.S. military members stationed overseas, as well as Toys for Tots. Money will also be collected through raffles.

There will be two parade routes covering the north and south sides of Queen Creek. Maps of the routes can be found here and here.

Participants must have valid drivers’ licenses and alcohol is prohibited.

QCPD advises those watching the cruise do so in a safe, well-lit area that is off the roadway.

“Avoid the route if you’re not participating or viewing the cruise,” QCPD stated in a Facebook post.
