$120M Queen Creek commercial development set to break ground

Posted

The developer of a $120 million mixed-use development in downtown Queen Creek is set to start turning dirt on the project soon.

Creation will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for The Switchyard on Tuesday, May 7 at 21740 S. Ellsworth Road.

The Switchyard will sit on a 10-acre site that blends restaurants, retail spaces, offices and multifamily housing. The project was announced by the town in June 2024.

“This exciting project helps bring the vision of our downtown core to life,” Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley stated when the project was first announced. “With specialty restaurant and retail, along with boutique office, The Switchyard will offer a variety of options for residents and visitors in the heart of our community.”

Creation has stated that it has already secured the first two leases for The Switchyard, including the wine café Postino, and The Porch, “a retro-inspired” pub.

Postino will take up 3,800 square feet and The Porch will have an 11,900-square-foot space that will include an outdoor patio.

Dallas-based GFF Design is the project’s architect and Phoenix and Dallas-based LGE Design Build will construct The Switchyard. The development will open in phases.
