A 53-year-old man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Saturday night after he was struck by a vehicle near 28th and Peoria avenues, police said.
Detectives learned the man had been arguing with a woman before the crash, which occurred about 11 p.m. Aug. 22. Witnesses were chasing the man when he ran into the street and was hit by the vehicle. He was taken to a hospital “in extremely critical condition,” according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
“The driver, an adult man, left the scene at first but returned a few minutes later. Officers spoke with him and saw signs of impairment.”
