Artie’s Ace Hardware in Phoenix’s Paradise Valley neighborhood is preparing for its 50th anniversary celebration next month.

The store, at the northeast corner of Tatum Boulevard and Thunderbird Road, recently completed renovations, and the celebration Friday-Sunday, Sept. 18-20 will also serve as a grand reopening.

Artie Holm, the store's owner, opened his first Ace Hardware store in Scottsdale off Via Linda in 1976 and later moved to its existing Paradise Valley neighborhood location, where it has served the community for 50 years. Last year, he opened a second store in Mesa.

“Celebrating 50 years is something I’m incredibly proud of,” stated Holm in a news release. “We’ve invested in this renovation to make the store even better while staying true to what we’ve always been known for, which is providing a wide selection, great service and helping customers find exactly what they need.”

During the celebration weekend of Sept. 18-20, there will be a 53-foot semi-truck, a 20% off sale for the entire store, a hot air balloon 75 feet in the air over the store, more than 25 vendors, a Grill-A-Thon, food giveaways, festive décor, a DJ and more.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorating the makeover of the well-known Phoenix location. Additionally, there will be a blood drive hosted on Sunday, Sept. 20, on-site, along with a golden hammer hunt for families to explore the store for a chance to win additional discounts at Artie’s Ace Hardware.

In preparation for the anniversary, the renovations included the installation of all-new air conditioning units and ductwork, fresh interior paint and flooring throughout the store, as well as a redesigned layout for a refreshed shopping experience.

The store has expanded its selection of products, including a larger tool department, an enhanced BBQ section, more than 3,400 new nuts and bolts and the brand-new pet department. Artie’s has also introduced ice cream coolers and complimentary ice and water, all available at checkout.

“I wanted to create a place where the community could always find the products and advice they needed,” Holm stated in the release. “We’ve watched families grow, welcomed new neighbors and have been proud to help generations of customers create homes they’re proud of, whether they’re tackling a weekend repair or building the perfect backyard gathering space.”

Artie’s Ace Hardware in Paradise Valley is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Monday-Saturday and 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. For store details, visit: acehardware.com/store-details/05015.
