Peoria takes steps toward potential bond authorization

The city of Peoria has begun the process of putting a potential bond authorization on the 2027 November ballot by starting the formation of a citizen bond advisory committee.

The committee will consider the possibility of a bond authorization, ranging from possible projects to specific dollar amounts, and ultimately provide guidance to council on whether the city should move forward for a public vote from residents.

Lisa Mattox, special assistant to the city manager, said there is  value in the committee, which is planned to have 15 members. It will include two residents from each district, selected by the district councilor; two residents at large, selected by the mayor; and a chair selected by the mayor. The Peoria chief financial officer, a deputy city manager and assistant to the city manager will facilitate committee meetings.
