The Peoria Education Foundation announced Mayor Cathy Carlat and the Peoria City Council as their selection for this year’s recipients of the Visionary Award.

Peoria mayor, city council to receive Visionary Award

The Peoria Education Foundation announced Mayor Cathy Carlat and the Peoria City Council as their selection for this year’s recipients of the Visionary Award. 

Tammy Caraway, president of the Peoria Education Foundation made the announcement at the city council meeting, Nov. 12. 

The award will be presented at the annual Visionary Awards dinner in April.

The Peoria Education Foundation is made up of community members, business leaders, elected officials and community volunteers with a vested interest in Peoria Unified School District students and staff.

Since 1987, the foundation has given nearly $2 million in grants to teachers and scholarships for continuing education to students. This year, the foundation gave about $15,000 in arts grants and about $25,000 in classroom grants.
