Peoria Police officers are investigating a traffic collision that happened in the master-planned development of Vistancia last weekend resulting in two fatalities.

Others remain in the hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Members of the Peoria police and fire-medical departments responded to an injury collision on 126th Avenue near Garambullo Drive at about 12:05 a.m., April 13, according to a news release.

This incident involved one vehicle, a 2018 black Infiniti Q60, that collided with a block wall and continued partially into a nearby residence.

Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Infiniti was traveling westbound on Garambullo Drive and continued through 126th Avenue. After failing to stop at the posted stop sign and continuing through the intersection, the Infiniti collided with a block wall and the residence. There were no injuries reported from the occupants inside the residence, police said.

The Infiniti had six occupants at the time of the collision. Five of the occupants sustained significant injuries and were taken to a local hospital. One of the occupants died from his injuries on scene and has been identified as 20-year-old Shane Johnson from Tempe.

Another occupant later died of his injuries at the hospital and has been identified as 19-year-old Aiden Ellis, of Peoria.

Police said both of the deceased were passengers, and seatbelts were believed to not be worn during the collision.

All the other occupants are still at the hospital receiving care, two of which have life-threatening injuries, police said.

The area was closed for several hours during the investigation but has been re-opened for normal traffic.

This incident is still being investigated by the Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit.
