Heavy winds down trees leaving Peoria cleanup crews busy during storm

While much of the central and east Valley got hit with heavy rain last night, Peoria stayed relatively dry, but city street crews reported a busy night of removing downed trees from roadways.

Those heavy hit areas experienced a cluster of severe thunderstorms with widespread gusts of 55-65 mph winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds in the Peoria area peaked in the 45-55 mph range last night, enough to keep city workers on their toes.
