The Diamond Club, a nonprofit organization that raises money for youth charities in the West Valley, announced its annual grant donations to the tune of more than $18,000 to 10 nonprofits.
Top recipients were Special Olympics of AZ, Arizona Burn Foundation and Desert Valley Elementary School.
The Diamond Club raises money through partnerships, sponsorships and donations. The total giving for the 2018-19 season was $115,789 to 45 children’s charities.
Supporters of the organization include the City of Peoria, the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. These partnerships offer the opportunity for the Diamond Club to provide the volunteer workforce of more than 500 for spring training and other events held at the Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave. In return, the partners provide financial support needed to help fund the grants and other giving initiatives.
The year’s biggest independent fundraiser is the Charity Game, held typically the first day of the Spring Training season at the Sports Complex. It is an opportunity for local businesses, restaurants and services to gain marketing exposure and support the Diamond Club’s mission.
The 2020 Charity Game takes place Saturday, Feb. 22, and the Diamond Club is offering sponsorships. Call 623-773-8710, email info@peoriadiamonclub.org or visit peoriadiamondclub.org.
