Deer Valley Unified eyeing 2 new schools as growth approaches

Governing Board to consider capital plan identifying need for a high school by 2031, K-8 campus by 2032

The Deer Valley Unified School District is preparing for the possibility of building two new schools in north Phoenix over the next six years, even as enrollment declines in other parts of the district, according to the district’s proposed fiscal year 2027 capital plan.

The Governing Board is expected to vote Tuesday on the capital plan, which identifies the need for a new high school by 2031 and a new K-8 school by 2032 to accommodate anticipated residential growth, according to the board’s meeting agenda and supporting documents.

Per the district’s capital plan, the proposed high school would accommodate approximately 2,000 students, while the K-8 campus would serve approximately 1,000.
