The Peoria mayoral race this year is ramping up and fundraising has reached the six-figure realm, with newcomer Jason Beck’s coffers overflowing compared with former city councilmember Bridget Binsbacher.
Although Beck’s campaign finance receipts exceed Binsbacher, about half of his reported funds are coming from his personal pocketbook while Binsbacher has received donations from individuals and political action committees supporting her campaign.
So far, Beck’s receipts in this election have reached $243,289, compared with Binsbacher’s, at $98,150.
Campaign finance reports for the second quarter and pre-primary reporting periods are in, showing Beck with a balance of $75,763 and Bisnbacher with a balance of $76,463 after campaign spending.
So far this election cycle, Beck has spent $167,524, more than four times his competitor.
During the same time period, Binsbacher has spent $38,090.
Candidates were required to file their most recent campaign finance reports no later than July 23. The state of Arizona has a primary election on Aug. 2, but the Peoria’s mayor race won’t be voted on until the Nov. 8 general election.
Over the last two reporting periods, Beck loaned nearly $31,000 to his campaign.
During this election, monies from his pocket book total about $131,000.
During the last two reporting periods, he picked up about $32,000 in donations, nearly all of which came from individual donors from Arizona who donated at least $100 or more.
Beck brought in some high campaign contributions from individuals: Thomas Johnson, self employed, gave $6,550; Nicole Johnson gave $6,550; and Debra Luke, self employed, gave $6,550.
Beck’s biggest expenses in this election cycle are: $64,840 to Camelback Strategy Group for campaign/consulting services; $26,330 to Outfront Media for advertising; $13,500 to Brandlync LLC for website construction; and $10,537 to CCT Strategies LLC for consulting.
Over the last two reporting periods, Binsbacher raised $52,850, and like Beck, much of that money came from individual donors from Arizona who gave at least $100 or more. As part of that, she received $30,200 from political action committees, particularly from firefighter-related PACs: $5,000 from Daisey Mountain FF PAC; $5,000 from PHX FF Local 493 Fire PAC Com; $3,000 from Glendale Fire Fighters; $3,000 from UPFF Tempe Chapter PAC; $3,000 from Chandler Chapter PAC; and $3,000 from Surprise Pro Firefighter PAC.
Binsbacher also received $20,000 from real estate-related entities: $6,500 from Realtors of Arizona PAC; $5,000 from Nicholas Wood, land use lawyer; $3,000 from James Nathan, residential and designated broker for Nathan & Associates, a commercial and residential land brokerage firm; $3,000 from
Neil Cumsky , CEO of Princeton Resort Group, a commercial real estate development firm; and a total of $2,500 in individual donations associated with developer Pederson Group, who developed The Trailhead, a mixed-use project in north Peoria.
Binsbacher’s biggest expenses in this election cycle are: $10,925 to High Ground for consulting services; and $8,180 to Americopy for signs and other purchases.
