OPINION — For the past four years, Adrian Fontes has served as Arizona’s Secretary of State with a focus on secure, accurate, transparent and accessible elections.
As Arizona’s chief election officer, Fontes oversees critical statewide election duties and works with officials throughout all 15 counties. Under his leadership, the secretary of state’s office has received three national Clearinghouse awards (“Clearies”) from the bipartisan U.S. Election Assistance Commission recognizing excellence and innovation.
The awards honored Arizona’s work in election cyber security and technology, its Election Administration Student Fellowship Program, and expanded voting services for members of our military and Americans living overseas.
