Arizona traffic fatalities dip for 3rd straight year

There were fewer alcohol-related crashes in 2025 in Arizona compared to 2024, but the data showed crashes that involved alcohol impairment and speeding remain a leading cause of injuries and death, state transportation officials said.

There were 1,156 traffic fatalities on all Arizona roads in 2025, a 5.2% decrease from 2024, state transportation officials said.

The total number of crashes also dropped, falling from 123,535 in 2024 to 118,052 in 2025 — a 4.4% decrease, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Still, ADOT officials said, those numbers remain near all-time highs.
