Christmas in July
Mesa Sunrise Rotary collects items for assisted-living residents
Posted
Members of the Mesa Sunrise Rotary are making it a holly jolly July for residents of the Christian Care Cottonwood Assisted Living community.
The group spent time this summer collecting much-needed and “wish-list” items for residents of the low-income assisted living center in Cottonwood and wrapping them up like Christmas gifts to give to these deserving seniors, according to a release.
“We’re so grateful for the ongoing efforts of the Mesa Sunrise Rotarians for making a difference in the lives of our seniors,” said Kristie Larsen, executive director of Fellowship Square Phoenix and Cottonwood. “Many of our residents don’t have family nearby so special efforts like these are so appreciated by our residents.”
On July 22 Larsen along with some of the Mesa Sunrise Rotarians will deliver the gifts to the residents during a special Christmas in July holiday celebration. During the party, residents will enjoy refreshments and an ugly Christmas hat contest, and each resident will receive a personalized gift that includes items they most need from their own wish lists.
The Christian Care Cottonwood Assisted Living community, 859 S. 12th St. in Cottonwood, is on ALTCS, Arizona’s Medicaid program that provides long term care services at little or no cost to financially and medically eligible Arizona residents who are 62 years of age or older, blind, disabled and need ongoing services at a higher level of care.
