Posted
Join Chandler’s own community symphony for a free concert on select Sunday afternoons, including one on March 23.

"CSO Presents: Mozart and More" is a Chandler Symphony Orchestra performance set for 3 p.m.  on March 23 at the Chandler Center for the Arts on Arizona Avenue.

The show is blled as a celebration of spring with a concert of 18th-, 19th- and 21st-century music.

"Mozart's Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major" features CSO principals Lisa Tharp Friedeman, flute, and Pamela Hahn, harp.

Next is Kenneth Fuchs's Rush for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, with Andrew Harrison as guest soloist.

The second half brings the romantic "Symphony in D minor" by César Franck to the audience's ears.

As always, there is no cost for admission to the Classics Series concert and no tickets are required. However, it helps organizers if attendees RSVP via chandlersymphony.com.

The doors will open at 2:30 p.m. on March 23 for open seating. This concert will be livestreamed, so anyone who can't be there in person can tune in on the symphony's website.

Also coming up is the April 13 "Musician's Choice" Chamber Music Series concert. CSO musicians pick their own music to perform n a free 3 p.m. show at Risen Savior Lutheran Church Worship Center.

Sunday, May 4, is the "Intenational Flair" free show at the Center for the Arts.  Vanja Gjumar Nikolovski will conduct as the orchestra performs H. Owen Reed's "La Fiesta Mexicana," Aaron Copland's "Billy the Kid Suite," Jean Sibelius'  "Finlandia," G.W. Chadwick's "Jubilee" from Symphonic Sketches" and Piotr Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."
