Speed appears factor in deadly East Valley school bus crash: Mesa PD

Posted

Mesa police are investigating Friday’s deadly two-vehicle collision that involved a Mesa public schools bus, and authorities said Saturday speed may have been a factor in the crash.

The collision occurred about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at East Southern Avenue and South 80th Street.

No students were on the bus, but two adults in the other vehicle died at the scene, police said. The bus driver was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries and remained in the hospital on Saturday morning, police said.

No one has been identified.

Police said initial information indicates the driver of the passenger vehicle was speeding.

The westbound lanes of Southern Avenue were closed for several hours after the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
