Monogram Aerospace — a division of PennAero that specializes in the manufacturing of externally threaded structural fasteners — is planning a 57,857-square-foot industrial development addition to its facility in Mesa.
The look and landscaping for the 40-foot-tall building 800 feet northwest of North Greenfield Road and East McDowell Road are to be discussed at the 4:30 p.m. Nov. 10 meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board at City Hall, 20 E. Main St.
Alternative compliance is being sought for facade articulation on publicly visible facades, facade articulation on non-publicly visible facades and parapet detailing.
The expansion is for office, manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and storage, Monogram Aerospace said in a written project narrative.
“This facility expansion will accommodate the installation of approximately 16 new (Computer Numerical Control) machines, along with the necessary supporting infrastructure and additional office space within the existing building, including restrooms,” it states. “The existing landscaping at the visitor/employee amenity area is being restored by the owner to comply with the applicable standards.”
The all-volunteer Mesa Design Review Board is unique in that its composition is set by the zoning ordinance to include two architects; two from other design professions such as landscape architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design-related background; one contractor or developer; and two residents, according to the city’s website.
