Litchfield Elementary School District's Governing Board approved a $27,000 single-source agreement for Building Thinking Classrooms professional development Nov. 3.
District officials said the training relies on proprietary instructional materials and requires an authorized provider.
The district researched other professional development companies but found no alternative provider authorized to deliver the in-person training.
During his superintendent's report, Carter Davidson discussed the importance of professional learning and organizational change.
"We're in the people business, and in order to get change to happen, you got to be able to work well with your people," Davidson said.
The training agreement covers one year and was approved without separate board discussion.
