Litchfield Elementary School District's Governing Board unanimously approved Matthew Carlson as director of facilities Nov. 3.
Assistant Superintendent Erik Stone said the district screened 15 candidates before interviewing five applicants and narrowing the field to two finalists.
"They all came with very different levels of experience," Stone said, describing a candidate pool that included retired military personnel, former superintendents and current school employees.
Board member Kimberly Moran praised the selection process.
"I'm also always happy to hear that we have multiple people who are interested in working for us," Moran said.
