Highland Prep West in Avondale has launched a welding and fabrication program to introduce students to careers in manufacturing and the skilled trades.
The program uses a curriculum developed by Lincoln Electric. Students learn welding, cutting and machining, completing projects from initial design to finished product.
“Our students learn best when they can see how their learning applies beyond the classroom. This program gives them that opportunity,” stated Shane Jones, director of STEM education for Highland Prep Academies.
