The Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce said the West Valley's transition from a commuter corridor into a primary regional retail destination will mark a milestone next month with the formal opening of Arizona's first Buc-ee’s travel center.
The Texas-based retail chain will officially open its 74,000-square-foot Goodyear complex on Monday, June 22, at 6:00 a.m. Located near the southeast corner of Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue, the expansive facility represents one of the largest large-format travel center developments in the Southwest and will operate 24 hours a day.
The commercial mega-center features 120 fueling positions, an extensive fresh food hall specializing in Texas-style barbecue, and an expansive specialty merchandise footprint.
The opening anchors a broader economic surge across the West Valley, which regional analysts have increasingly categorized as a major retail growth hub. The development joins an inventory of major experience-driven assets, including Goodyear's GSQ mixed-use core, the Westgate Entertainment District, Desert Diamond Casino and the Verrado Marketplace.
Beyond its tourism draw, the 22-acre development introduces a substantial employment footprint to the local economy. The 24/7 travel center is expected to hire approximately 300 full-time workers.
Local business leaders view the massive scale of the project as a prime example of developments that combine traditional shopping with experience-driven tourism to draw cross-state traffic.
"Buc-ee’s is more than a travel stop, it’s a destination that will bring new energy, visitors, and opportunity to the West Valley," said Raoul Sada, President and CEO of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce.
