Gilbert residents should prepare for delays and traffic for upcoming roadwork for the Loop 202-Santan Freeway from a widening project from Loop 101 to Val Vista Drive.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) on-ramp at Gilbert Road to be closed for about 60 days. The closure began at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9,.

The closure will allow for ramp reconstruction as part of the Loop 202-Santan Freeway widening project.

Drivers may consider using the westbound on-ramps at Cooper or Lindsay roads.

Upcoming 60-day ramp closures

• The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Cooper Road will be closed for 60 days beginning Wednesday, Feb. 26. 
• The westbound Loop 202 on-ramp at Val Vista Drive will be closed for 60 days beginning Thursday, March 13.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.

Speed limits are reduced to 55 miles per hour in work zones for the safety of drivers and workers. ADOT advises drivers to slow down, stay alert and be prepared to merge with caution when approaching and traveling through all work zones.
