Water Tower lights up Gilbert for holidays after renovation work

Gilbert used the occasion of its annual holiday Water Tower lighting to put one of its most cherished community amenities back into play Monday.

Water Tower Plaza is back after nearly a year of renovation work with a more functional design for community events and more efficient water features.

"I've been telling people that we remodeled this park to be used the way that we have been trying to use it for the past eight to 10 years," Mayor Brigette Peterson said just before the ribbon cutting and lighting of the tower. "You've come down here and you've tried to have picnics. You've come down here and you've wanted shade for the splash pad for your kids. You've come down and needed restrooms and changing rooms for your children. So now you're going to have all of that.
