Gilbert is inviting members of the town’s special needs community to its free S.A.F.E. Public Safety Day on March 28 at the Gilbert Public Safety Training Facility.
The event — S.A.F.E. stands for sensory awareness family event — will run from 9 a.m. to noon and is designed to provide an inclusive environment for families to interact with Gilbert police and fire personnel.
Attendees will have opportunities to ride on a fire truck, take part in simulated police traffic stops and explore police and fire vehicles and equipment. The event aims to build understanding and strengthen relationships between families and first responders.
