Oak Tree employee recognized for helping student

Posted

Oak Tree Elementary paraprofessional Eric Rogers was recognized during the Aug. 25 Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board meeting for assisting a student following a vehicle accident.

According to district officials, Rogers encountered the student shortly after the accident and remained with the child until the student's parents arrived. During that time, he helped ensure the student's safety, maintained communication with family members and worked with emergency responders.

District officials said Rogers informed first responders of the student's specific needs and helped reduce potential stressors while the student awaited the arrival of family members.

The student's family expressed appreciation for Rogers' actions and support during the incident.

The recognition was part of the district's monthly superintendent recognition program, which highlights the contributions of students and staff throughout Gilbert Public Schools.
