GPS volunteers gather for annual Camp VNET training event

Posted

More than 400 volunteers from across Gilbert Public Schools gathered Aug. 1 at Highland High School for Camp VNET, an annual training and networking event designed to prepare volunteers for the upcoming school year.

The event brought together volunteers, booster club members and parent support organization leaders for a day of professional development, collaboration and planning.

Activities included workshops focused on fundraising, leadership development and strategies to strengthen volunteer engagement throughout the district.

District leaders welcomed attendees and highlighted the role volunteers play in supporting students, families and school communities. Organizers said the event was intended to help volunteers build skills, share ideas and prepare for the year ahead.

Camp VNET is organized through the Gilbert Public Schools Volunteer Network, an independent nonprofit organization that supports parent organizations and volunteer efforts throughout the district.

According to district officials, volunteers received training and resources aimed at helping them serve at all 38 district campuses. The event also provided opportunities for participants to connect with other volunteers and exchange best practices.

The district is continuing to encourage community members to become involved through volunteer opportunities and to recognize outstanding volunteers through annual awards programs.
