Six Gilbert Public Schools graduates from the Class of 2026 have been awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships.
The recipients represent Campo Verde High School, Gilbert Classical Academy and Highland High School. According to the district, 12 GPS students were named National Merit semifinalists, and eight ultimately received either a college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship or a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes students based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Students who advance to finalist standing must complete an application process that includes academic records, an essay, leadership experience and extracurricular involvement.
