Higley Unified School District officials are taking a cautious, status quo approach to their proposed unrestricted capital budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, citing uncertain state funding, declining enrollment and ongoing facility needs.
During a first review April 7, district leaders outlined a capital plan that largely maintains current spending levels while prioritizing essential technology, maintenance and operational needs.
The capital budget, used primarily for physical items such as equipment, furniture, technology and construction, remains constrained by flat per-pupil funding that has not increased in several years.
