Higley High remembers 9/11 with Field of Honor

Students from Higley High School’s law and public safety program led a tribute Thursday to honor those who lost their lives in the tragic events of 9/11.

As part of the memorial, the school’s courtyard was transformed into a Field of Honor, where American flags were placed across the grass to represent individuals who were lost. Alongside the flags, a wall of names provided a quiet space for reflection and remembrance, allowing the school community to pause and pay their respects.

“We wanted to create this at our high school because our students were not born on or near this tragic event of 9/11,” said Jason Hall, criminal justice teacher. “So, we feel this is a great way to educate our youth of today and remind those that are older to never forget.”

To deepen understanding, students also installed educational posters featuring a timeline of events and historical photographs that illustrated the magnitude and heroism of the day.

Students from the law and public safety program, with support and guidance from Hall, organized and led the initiative. Their collaboration resulted in a remembrance that not only honored the victims but also helped cultivate awareness and understanding for a new generation.

The project reflects the core values of Higley High School, excellence, honor, and compassion.
