Gilbert Public Schools has approved an extension of its partnership with Maricopa County's Head Start program, continuing a collaborative effort to provide services and referrals for preschool-age children, including children with disabilities.
The GPS Governing Board unanimously approved an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement as part of its consent agenda earlier this month. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors also approved the amendment unanimously through its consent agenda.
The agreement establishes a process for serving children ages 3 through kindergarten-eligible 5-year-olds in accordance with federal and state laws, district policy and the Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007.
