Gilbert Public Schools officials said the district's operations team completed multiple maintenance, repair and renovation projects during the summer as students and staff prepared to return for the new school year.
District officials said the work focused on maintaining school facilities, addressing aging infrastructure and improving learning environments across the district's campuses. The district operates 38 campuses and department buildings comprising approximately 5 million square feet of space.
According to the district, projects were selected following facility assessments designed to identify maintenance needs and address potential safety concerns before they become larger issues.
Among the projects completed were tennis court repairs at Mesquite High School, asphalt repairs at Campo Verde High School and Spectrum Elementary School, and a playground renovation at Mesquite Elementary School. District crews also completed a full flooring replacement at South Valley Junior High School and renovated the multipurpose room floor at Spectrum Elementary.
Additional work included kitchen renovations at Sonoma Ranch Elementary School, restroom renovations at Mesquite High School, gate modifications at Campo Verde High School and Gilbert Classical Academy, and audiovisual upgrades and renovations to the meats processing lab at Gilbert High School.
"We rely on thorough assessments to stay ahead of facility needs and keep spaces safe and functional for students," Albert Dutchover, the district's chief operations officer, said in a statement.
District officials said the projects were completed during the summer break to minimize disruptions and prepare campuses for the 2026-27 school year.
