Gilbert Public Schools Superintendent Shane McCord used his final superintendent’s report June 23 to say goodbye to the district he has led for nine years, thanking students, staff, board members, colleagues and family before symbolically exchanging his nameplate out for incoming Superintendent Jared Ryan.
McCord, who is retiring June 30, used the report at his last Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board meeting to reflect on his tenure and the people he said shaped it.
Board members then offered their own tributes before McCord stepped away from the dais, swapped out his nameplate for Ryan’s and left to have dinner with his family.
