Gilbert proposes adding alternate member to Redevelopment Commission

A proposal to amend Gilbert’s land development code would add an alternate member to the town’s Redevelopment Commission, aiming to address quorum issues caused by member recusals or absences.

Veronica Gonzalez, principal planner, presented the proposed amendment during the April 8 Gilbert Town Council study session. Gonzalez said the commission has five members without an alternate and that the proposal adds an alternate “so that the business of their agenda could be continued.”

The alternate member would serve a one-year term and step in when a regular member is absent or must recuse themselves.
