As fall break gets underway, the Gilbert Police Department is reminding parents and guardians to stay engaged in their children's activities and be aware of local laws affecting minors.
Police said officers began increasing patrols Sept. 19 in areas commonly visited by youth. Enforcement efforts will focus on underage drinking, curfew violations and unruly gatherings.
Under Gilbert's curfew ordinance, minors younger than 16 are prohibited from being in public places away from home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Those ages 16 and 17 are prohibited from being in public places away from home between midnight and 5 a.m.
