The Gilbert Town Council will take up the fiscal year 2025-26 budget for consideration and preliminary approval at its Tuesday meeting.
Preliminary approval often is generally more significant than the final approval that takes place in June. Under state law, council cannot increase the budget after preliminary approval. The final budget can be the same or lower, but not higher.
The budget proposal set to go before council is for $2.46 billion, though that includes all future planned capital improvement projects, thus making it much larger than what is expected to be spent in the coming fiscal year.
