Gilbert council postpones decision on rezoning for Aura San Tan mixed-use project

Gilbert Town Council has postponed a decision on a request from Gilbert Growth Properties for a minor general plan amendment and rezoning that would pave the way for a new mixed-use development in town.

Citing concerns about giving up potential commercial space, council voted 6-0 Tuesday to continue the proposal on the Aura San Tan until Oct. 14 with Councilmember Yung Koprowski absent.

The proposal includes two key requests: changing the land use designation for 14.24 acres from regional commercial to multifamily residential 25–50 dwelling units per acre and rezoning the same parcel from regional commercial with a planned area development to mixed use–large with a PAD, Gilbert Planning Manager Ashlee MacDonald said.
