After override passage, Gilbert Public Schools increases staff stipends

Gilbert Public Schools' successful passage of its maintenance and operations override continuance this month has already resulted in the first benefits to the district.

The Gilbert Public Schools governing board approved an increase in one-time pay stipends Nov. 21 for all employees. The vote was 3-0 with Clerk Chad Thompson absent.

The decision came as a result of the 15% override continuation as well as higher-than-expected carryover funds and lower-than-expected enrollment loss.
