THINGS TO DO / FIRST RESPONDERS

Sun Lakes firefighter walk-a-thon fundraiser is Oct. 24

Posted

The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation’s second annual Firefighters Food Fund Walk-A-Thon fundraiser is set to start at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Oakwood Ballroom, 24218 S. Oakwood Blvd., Sun Lakes.

The foundation invites supporters of fire departments everywhere to walk and —whether in person or in spirit— to donate to help firefighters and EMTs.

Donations of all amounts go to the Food Fund for Sun Lakes’ two fire stations.

Walkers check in for the Oct. 24 event at 8 a.m. at the nearby Oakwood Golf Shop. Non-walkers check in at 8:30 a.m. in the ballroom.

Donor tiers are $25, $50, $100, $250 and $500.

A free light breakfast will be served in the ballroom. The event will include a meet-and-greet with local firefighters, fire truck and ambulance tours and a 50/50 raffle — again to benefit the Food Fund.

Register in advance by clicking here.

Paper forms will be made available in all Sun Lakes communities, along with a QR code.
