Gilbert Town Council rejected a proposal Sept. 15 to turn the last undeveloped parcel of the Reserve at SanTan business park into a 121-unit apartment complex.
The Residences at the Reserve proposal from Orsett called for changing the approximately 4.9-acre site from business park to multifamily medium zoning and amending its general plan designation from general office to residential allowing 14 to 25 dwelling units per acre.
Town staff recommended approval, but the proposal faced opposition from neighboring homeowners and previously received a 4-3 recommendation for denial from the Gilbert Planning Commission.
