Fernando Pizano, a 2020 Perry High School graduate and current University of Arizona School of Medicine student, was personally introduced and commended by Chandler Unified Superintendent Anna Battle during the CUSD Governing Board’s Sept. 9 meeting.
Pizano was one of a handful of honorees recognized at the meeting as “Pioneers of Change” as part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The others were CUSD Board President and district alumna Patti Serrano; Perry High School ELLA club, or English language learners assistance club; and Elmer’s Tacos, located across from Chandler High School and run by longtime area residents Elmer Cuen and his daughter, Lisa Cuen-Rodriguez.
