Department store chain thanks Chandler dispatchers on Sept. 11

Walmart associates delivered thank-you certificates, snack bags, drinks, meals and gift baskets delivered to more than 20 emergency dispatch centers across New Mexico and Arizona, including the Chandler Police Department’s downtown dispatch center.

The morning of Sept. 11, Walmart associates across Arizona and New Mexico took time to recognize what a news release describes as some of the often-unseen heroes of an emergency response: 911 dispatchers.

The news release states Walmart sees dispatchers — increasingly referred to as communications specialists or public safety telecommunicators — as playing a critical role in emergency response, often serving as the first point of contact when someone needs help.
