The Chandler Police Department will conduct a targeted speed enforcement detail throughout the city over the next 10 days.
This enhanced enforcement effort will run from Sept. 9 to Sept. 19 and is made possible by grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, according to a news release.
The detail will focus on areas where speed-related collisions and traffic complaints are most prevalent.
Officers will look for drivers who exceed posted speed limits, engage in aggressive driving behavior, speed through school zones or drive while distracted.
“Speeding continues to be a leading factor in serious injury and fatal crashes,” said Chandler Police Sgt. Jason Alnas stated in the news release. “Our goal is to reduce dangerous driving behaviors through education and enforcement, ultimately saving lives.”
The Chandler Police Department encourages all drivers to follow posted speed limits, remain alert and drive responsibly. Speed enforcement efforts are part of a broader traffic safety initiative aimed at reducing traffic-related injuries and fatalities on Arizona roads.
