Tempe school honors first responders in 9/11 anniversary gathering

The Kyrene de la Mariposa Elementary School honored the first responders of Sept. 11, 2001, by inviting the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Tempe Police to an assembly.

The Sept. 11 event was led by Principal Spencer Fallgatter, who invited parents and Tempe Police officers to educate students about what happened in New York 25 years ago.

“It’s so important for our students to continue to remember what sacrifices have been made by our active and inactive military and law enforcement,” Fallgatter said.
