Posted
INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A shooting early Saturday morning during what a driver reported as carjacking sent one man to a hospital in critical condition, police said.
The shooting occurred about 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, near Sixth Street and Mill Avenue, according to police.
Police arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
“The information we know at this time is the suspect who was shot was reportedly attempting to ‘carjack’ an occupied vehicle that was stopped near the intersection of Sixth Street and Mill Avenue by entering into the front passenger door,” Tempe police stated in a release.
“The male suspect attacked the driver. While being attacked, the driver fired his handgun, striking the male suspect.”
Both men got out of the vehicle, and the driver called police.
Police said details are limited so far in their investigation.
