Tempe Eats grand opening moved, new restaurant concepts and more

Local businesses in Tempe are alive, with a number of new dining concepts opened and in the works as existing businesses also make moves and offer promotions.

Below is a list of local business news from the Tempe community:

Openings

  • New food hall Tempe Eats, 85 E. Southern Ave., now opens Feb. 16, offering eight different eateries serving everything from avant-garde fusion dishes to timeless classics. Originally set to open Feb. 2, the dining concept is the brainchild of Teresa Nguyen of Jonty Corp and was inspired by her travels to more than 70 countries, according to a press release. Tempe Eats’ hours of operations will be 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.   • TruWest Credit Union has moved its corporate headquarters from 1667 N. Priest Drive to 2190 E. Elliott Road. The new headquarters occupies 26,134 square feet with more than 20 offices, 60 workspaces and a variety of meeting spaces. The décor was designed by TruWest employees, including art that reflects the credit union’s history, diversity and “commitment to serving the community,” a release stated.
  • Debuting Feb. 19, Eureka!, with its scratch kitchen, craft cocktails and whiskey bar, will open at Novus Innovation Corridor in Tempe. Eureka! will be part of Novus Place, the new main street entertainment district in the latest phase of the Novus Innovation Corridor, adjacent to Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, according to a release.  Specialties include American classics with a modern twist with its diverse selection of appetizers, signature plates, innovative salads and desserts.
  • Software development and support services provider Chetu has moved to a new location in Tempe at Jackson Plaza, 4600 S. Mill Ave., Suite 180. Chetu has 14 offices throughout the U.S., United Kingdom and India, and more than 2,800 software experts worldwide, according to a release. Having opened the Tempe office in 2021 to manage Chetu’s West Coast operations, the new location more than doubles the size of the original office with 3,000 square feet of operating space, company officials said.
  • Graze Craze, a popular charcuterie concept, opened a new location at 1855 E. Guadalupe Road in the Pueblo Anozira shopping center. The 766-square-foot store is owned and operated by Chris Garrity and his brother-in-law, Chris Ashby, according to a release. Trained experts known as Grazologists design charcuterie arrangements that feature an assortment of fine ingredients perfect for grazing, like fresh fruits and vegetables, premium meats and cheeses, artisanal sweets, nuts, house-made jams and more. Graze Craze South Tempe is open for pick-up, catering and free local delivery Monday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For information, call 480-272-9553 or visit www.grazecraze.com/south-tempe-az.
  • The new Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory opened Jan. 20 at Arizona Mills, 5025 S. Arizona Mills Circle. Featuring two concepts under one roof, the dining concept combines the vibrant flavors of Frutilandia’s fresh fruit and sweet delights with the bold, authentic tastes of Taqueria Factory’s Mexican cuisine, creating convenience and a unique restaurant experience for food enthusiasts, a release explained. As the first Tempe location for both Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory, the restaurant is conveniently near the intersection of I-10 and U.S. 60 and will be just 10 minutes away from Arizona State University campus.

Promotions

  • Kuka Sushi and Izakaya, 1221 E. Apache Blvd., Suite 103, is one of 10 Valley restaurants taking part in the Taste of Japan: Specialty Seafood & Sake Series, a partnership between the Japan External Trade Organization and the Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles. From Friday, Feb. 16 to Friday, March 1, each restaurant will create and serve unique, limited-time dishes highlighting Japanese seafood, specifically the Hokkaido scallop. Kuka Sushi and Izakaya will offer a raw scallop served with basil olive oil, pink salt and yuzu sherbet.

New hires

  • Angela Bock has associated with the Tempe/Ahwatukee office of Coldwell Banker Realty as an affiliate agent after previously working as an agent with Keller Williams. Before that, she was a verification specialist with Carvana, a release explained. She also owns and operates an online business. In addition to being fluent in Spanish, she holds an associate degree in psychology. “I worked in a real estate office in 2010 and was attracted to the lifestyle and the environment. I knew then that I would become an agent one day,” stated Bock in the release.
