Police arrest Tempe high school district employee suspected of security video misuse

Posted

A Tempe Union High School District employee was arrested and booked into jail Saturday following an investigation into the inappropriate use and downloading of district security video footage for personal use, police said.

The Tempe Police Department was contacted Friday after a security supervisor discovered the misuse while conducting an audit of the employee’s security-video activity.  Antony Cruz was arrested on Aug. 22, police said.

Investigators are continuing to follow up on the investigation to determine the scope of the activity and identify any potential victims.

“The Tempe Police Department takes the unauthorized use of security footage seriously. Protecting the privacy and safety of students, staff and the school community remains a priority,” a Tempe Police Department release stated.
