Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E. Libra Drive in Tempe. is always seeking volunteers for office roles, coffee shop help and linen cleaning.

Our Lady at Mount Carmel events
Our Lady at Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 2121 S. Rural Road is hosting several adult worship events, including a recurring adult confirmation class starting at 7 p.m. Friday Sept. 16, a. and recurring candlelight Mass on every second Saturday of the month beginning at 5 p.m.
Couples, volunteering events at Tempe church
Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Tempe at 1035 E Guadalupe Road is hosting an event for couples, and separate volunteering events at Feed My Starving Children in Chandler. On Sept. 12 the “Date Night Challenge” brings together married couples for dinner, games and fun with free child care available. Tickets are $50 per couple. Registration for the Feed My Starving Children volunteer event is due Sept. 9 with the event beginning at 6:45 on Sept. 16.
Blood drives at Tempe churches
According to experts from Vitalant Health, there is a critical shortage of Type O blood in the nation. Every two seconds a patient needs blood or platelets and around 30,000 units of blood are needed daily. Here are a few places to donate blood in Tempe to give back to those in need.
The Bloodmobile will be at First Baptist Church 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23 and at 7195 S. Shutterfly Way from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 26.
Other places to donate include the Church of the Epiphany at 222 S. Price Road 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.
